Don't take art too seriously

Art should make you happy. It should add some color to your life. And at the very least it should match your throw pillows and keep your living room from being so damn beige.

It's either painting or murder...

I'm Katy. I started painting as a stress reliever from my day job and because I had a blank canvas and brushes left over from a short stint as an art major. When I finished the first piece, the thought of naming it something like, "Floral No. 1" made me cringe. So I named it "Awfully Uppity for a 5 at Best," and the rest is history.

I paint large canvases with bright colors - mostly forals, but I'm branching out into oysters, nudes and abstracts. Then I give them names that make me laugh.
